The Best Gay Clubs Around the World.

One of the best things about being gay is all the fun you have at the clubs. No matter where you go around the world, the best clubs in town are always the gay clubs. The gay clubs are so fantastic even the straighties want to hang. Gay clubs are scattered out all around the globe. There are some amazing hot spots in France and Europe. Amsterdam is abundant with fabulous gay clubs. London, Barcelona, New York and Amsterdam are among the most popular destinations for gay travelers.

Amsterdam has held the highest rank for quite some time. Amsterdam has one of the largest gay scenes in the world. The oldest gay rights organization was founded in Amsterdam in the late 1940s. The first gay marriages took place in Amsterdam seven years ago. Gay travelers from all over the globe are finding themselves attracted to the wonderfully gay Amsterdam. The city of Amsterdam has over a hundred gay discos, gay bars, gay saunas, video stores, bookshops, hotels and restaurants. There are quite a few prime gay clubs in the area of Rembrandtplein, all throughout Reguliersdwarsstraat, by Halvemaansteeg, and all along Amstel. Another hot spot is near the Red Light District; parallel to Damrak is Warmoesstraat. This area is full of leather bars as well as rainbow-flagged saunas, and a great variety of gay venues.

The only gay club in Amsterdam that is open seven days a week is Cockring in the Red Light District. Cockring is located in the popular Warmoesstraat, right in the center of one of the hottest neighborhoods in Amsterdam, next door to the sexy leather scene. Sex and fun rule this hot spot with a combination of leather men and trendy clubbers. Cockring is open seven days a week, three hundred sixty-five days a year. The club features live strip sex shows every hour from Thursday through Sunday by international porn stars.

The biggest gay club in Amsterdam is Exit. This club has four floors with bars and dance floors. The top floor has a dark room and a chill-out area. The dancing is hot here. I loved the DJ; his work with vocal house is awesome. Most of the local guys like to hang out downstairs. There are some young hot bartenders on the middle floor where they play the more popular style of music. The most fun is the fourth floor. Exit is open from eleven at night until four in the morning, Monday through Thursday and on Sunday. On Friday and Saturday, they open at eleven at night and do not close until five in the morning.

Club Roque has a fabulous cocktail bar and the funkiest dance floor. The DJs pump out everything from the latest dance tracks to the best old school house. The sexy decor is perfect. On Wednesday night at the Roque Star Cocktail Night, you can drink Cosmos and Mojitos all night long while the DJ spins some of the greatest house music. Club Roque is open Wednesday and Thursday from nine at night until four in the morning, Saturday from nine to five and Sunday from six in the evening until one in the morning.

Recently, Barcelona is growing in popularity with the finest gay individuals. For many years, Barcelona has been the gay culture center in Spain. Barcelona's popularity greatly increased when same sex marriage became legal three years ago in Spain. Barcelona is ranked second among the most elite gay travelers. Barcelona has a fabulous gay district where gay travelers can be comfortably entertained at one of the various gay clubs.

Atame is a modern club that offers mellow music in the evening to hang out with your friends. Later on in the night, the place comes alive with Spanish music and dancing to the latest tunes, as well as a live show. Atame is open every day from six in the evening until two-thirty in the morning and until three on the weekend.

Metro Disco in Barcelona is open every day and gay all the way. They have two rooms, five bars, a video lounge and a dark room. The resident DJ rocks the house with the hottest dance music. Metro Disco opens at two in the morning every day. Mondays are cabaret night. Tuesday is "sexy boys" night. The big party is on Wednesday. Thursday is bingo night and the weekend is "in the night of stars."

Salvation in the Eixample gay district of Barcelona is a stunning place that opened up about nine years ago and brought the gay to the ghetto. They have two rooms with separate styles of music. One room has a DJ with house music and the other room features a more commercial style of music. The exotic barmen and animation team combined with the light and sounds make Salvation one of the hottest gay clubs in the world.

London has the most exciting nightlife in the world. This capitol city has the biggest gay population in all of Europe. They have at least two hundred gay clubs and bars. London is home to London's Gay and Lesbian Film Festival, as well as the annual London Pride Festival. The city of London attracts gay travelers from all over the globe and London is ranked the best among gay tourists from America. London has quite a gay history, with famous gay people such as Sir Elton John, King James VI and Virginia Woolf. The first gay rights demonstration in Britain took place in 1970 in Highbury Fields.

Gay clubs are quite popular in London as of late. There is a flourishing heterosexual commission that stays under the radar to keep the atmosphere friendly and without hostility. The gay scene in London is a community with several gay venues; the old homophobic attitudes have all but disappeared.

The Eve Club opened its doors in early October five years ago and is quickly becoming one of the most favorable destinations in London. It provides an intimate '50s atmosphere perfect for mingling, partying and enjoying the finest service including vintage champagne and some of the best music. The Eve Club hosts some of the coolest club nights in London. They are licensed until after three in the morning Monday until Saturday. The Eve Club has a spectacular interior, featuring a glorious bar that is ice sculptured and dazzlingly lit with countless colors and fiber optics. The Eve Club is filled with soft cushions and low tables scattered around the renowned glass dance floor. The VIP area known as the Garden of Eden is actually shaded with a real live "forbidden" apple tree. The Eve Club can be hired for private parties and the VIP area can be reserved on the club nights. The Italian Chef can cater to your private partying needs.

Ghetto was established by an assemblage of people who for years worked in several different nightclubs, from the super trendy to the cheerfully cheap. Even though Ghetto is located in the center of high priced Soho, they believe no one should ever pay more than $8 for drinks. Drink prices at Ghetto start from $2 for a variety of drinks and on some nights, most drinks are just $3. The Ghetto staff are one of the friendliest in all of London. The people behind the bar are more than models with attitudes - they have really great personalities. Ghetto is the only gay club in London that is open seven days a week. Best of all, Ghetto has something different featured every night. It does not matter if you prefer pop, rock, electo, house or indie it is offered at Ghetto. Ghetto stays original and fresh with theme parties, guest DJs, giveaway nights, live bands and so much more.

Scala is located in the King Cross area, north of central London. The building features four main floors and can accommodate events of over a thousand people. They have two dance floors, three bars as well as a stage for live performances with the cloakroom located on the first floor. The main room features an oak floor for dancing, a stage for live performances, and projection screens. Scala has a 25K Turnaround, a retractable cinema screen on stage, a slide projection screen. The dance floor is tiered and offers superb stage visibility. Scala is only a short walk from the Kings Cross St. Pancras Rail Station and the King Cross Underground. Transportation by bus is also an option. The main room stage is perfect, intimate yet spacious. With the lenient methods of security, you can really get up close and personal at Scala. The second room has a maze-like layout that makes the club seem less busy than others in London. The people that come to Scala create an atmosphere that you will not want to leave. The music depends completely on the night, however pop and indie seem to be the most popular these days. The live gigs are really awesome. Great acts such as Jamiroquai and Chemical Brothers are among the entertainment that has graced the stage at Scala. Being central London, as you can expect, the drinks are not cheap. Service is fast and the staff at the bar is among the friendliest in London, which cannot be said for some venues.

New York City is definitely highly ranked among the gay scenes from the West Village restaurants and Chelsea clubs to the friendly gay accommodations. There are more than fifty thousand gay couples living in the state of New York. Ever since the Second World War, New York City has been the number one rated gay destination in America, no matter where your hometown may be. The liberal neighborhoods like Greenwich Village helped to open the eyes of the country's population through literature and culture. New York City is the art capital of the country with a cultural scene that gay men and women have dominated by at least seventy percent for the past few decades. If you are going to New York City, be ready for everything, because, honey it is here, it is all here!

The gay district in New York City forms an almost perfect "L", including Hell's Kitchen, the East Village, Chelsea as well as Greenwich Village.

Chelsea is obviously the gayest area in New York City with an epicenter at Eighth Avenue and Eighteenth Street. The streets are full of sexy young muscle boys, all pumped up just flashing their sexuality all over the place. The biggest concentration of art galleries can be found in this neighborhood. The gay-friendly Chelsea is home to several filmmakers and photographers as well as a recent increase of lawyers, business owners and doctors.

Barracuda located on Twenty-second Street in Chelsea New York was awarded the Best Gay Bar award five years ago. Barracuda is open every day from four to four. Monday through Friday from four until nine; you can get two-for-one drinks during Happy Hour. Barracuda is a cash only club. The club features a DJ every day from ten until closing time. Cabaret is every Sunday through Thursday at eleven o'clock. If you are looking for good alcohol and good gay fun, stop on by Barracuda, you will not be disappointed. Barracuda is where all the mellow neighborhood boys like to hang out; sometimes they even bring their straightie girl pals. Stroll on to the back lounge and feast your eyes on the hot, young, muscle boy waiters under the low-hanging lights.

Elmo between nineteenth and Twentieth Street in Chelsea is named after the famous El Morocco nightclub. The restaurant is quite the gay scene. You can use the bar entrance to get a great view of the hot-bodied patrons and the divine dining room. The average drink at Elmo is $10. Elmo is open every Monday through Thursday from eleven in the morning until midnight, and on Fridays they stay open for an hour longer. On Saturday, the doors open early at ten in the morning and stay open late until one in the morning. Sundays they are open from ten in the morning until midnight. The lounge is open on Thursdays from seven in the evening until one in the morning and on Fridays and Saturdays for seven in the evening until three in the morning. Elmo has been called the year's best restaurant by Instinct Magazine.

G is a hot gay club that lures the young Chelsea boys of New York City and whoever they bring tagging along with them. At happy hour, as well as on the weekends, G is packed with DJs spinning the hottest dance mixes and the best frozen Cosmo sippers in the city. Every once in a while the celebrity Christina Aguilera will stop by and the lounge attracts muscle boy workout types. G is open from four to four every day. The average drink at G will run you somewhere around $9. G is a cash only establishment.

If you prefer your gay nightlife to be a little more jagged around the edges, especially if you are the leather and jeans type, then Rawhide on Eighth Avenue is the perfect place for you. The pool table sets the tone and the wooden rails provide a great spot to rest yourself and start giving come-hither looks to all the boys. The entertainment is Go-Go men every night and since Rawhide opens its doors early on most days, this is a prime spot to find New York City's true hardcore gay partiers. Rawhide opens every Monday through Saturday at eleven o'clock in the morning and does not close its doors until the wee hours of four in the morning. They open late on Sundays at about noon. The average drink at Rawhide, which is a cash only club, is only about $4.

Perhaps one of the flashiest gay clubs is Splash Bar in Chelsea New York. This is a primarily gay dance bar where everything is big and lively from the bulging pecs on the bartenders and the mirrors all over the place to the huge variety of hot dance music. This place is great, they have an ATM in case you are running low on cash (Splash Bar is a cash only venue). There is also a store where you can purchase - what else - condoms and lube. You will find yourself curiously stopping by for happy hour one day after work, decide to stay for the dancing and before you know it, you are up there pulling the towels off the Go-Go boys. Drinks at the Splash Bar usually average in the neighborhood of about $7. There is a cover charge to get into Splash Bar of somewhere around $5 to $20. Splash Bar is open every Monday through Thursday from four in the evening until four the next morning. They open on Friday afternoons are four and stay open until five o'clock the next morning. On Saturdays, the doors open at four in the afternoon and do not close until eight o'clock the next morning. Every Sunday, Splash Bar is open from three in the afternoon until four the next morning. Do not forget to order your tickets for the fantastic shows featured at Splash Bar.

Many people who are visiting Greenwich Village for the first time are surprised by the diversity of the city. Greenwich Village is abundant with many different faces and communities. The gay-friendly West Village, which is possibly the first-ever gay ghetto, centers on Christopher Street and Sheridan Square.

Stonewall Inn in the neighborhood of Greenwich Village is named after the famous Stonewall Riots that marked a turning point for the rights of gays. This classic of Rainbow Row has had several facelifts since it was officially reopened eighteen years ago. It is a much-frequented spot for all different types of gay men who are looking for casual cocktails and upbeat action. The event roster constantly changes - one night will feature DJs and all out dance parties and the next night the place may be filled with beautiful drag queens. Stonewall Inn is a comfortable, classy gay club scene.

The upbeat and sometimes all out raucous Pieces is a mainstay among the gay community of the West Village. The club has quite a few offbeat events on any given night of the week, with various drink specials at happy hour. Be sure not to miss Post Office Love Connection on Thursday night, when you can write your own love notes to all of the hotties. The drinks at Pieces are really quite reasonably priced at only $2 during happy hour, which is every day from two o'clock in the afternoon until eight o'clock in the evening. The rest of the time the average drink will only cost you about $7. Of course, all of the drinks are poured by the delicious bar boys. Pieces is open every Thursday through Saturday from two in the afternoon until four in the morning and every Sunday and Monday from two in the afternoon until two in the morning. The dress code at Pieces is always anything goes. All major credit cards are accepted at Pieces. Pieces is a great high-energy spot for gay singles.

Perhaps one of the only gay sports bars in New York City, Dugout features personable bartenders, a light atmosphere and the hottest buff boys around. Dugout features all of the classic accommodations that you would find at any straight sports club, such as a pool table, jukebox and dartboard. Come on by on Sunday for the Famous Beer Bash when the beers will start flowing for the low cost of only $4 at twelve noon. The average drink at Dugout will usually run you in the vicinity of about $7. Dugout accepts all major credit cards.

The East Village in New York City is a little more on the funky side than its counterpart in the west. The East Village is scattered with little apartments, cheap ethnic-styled restaurants, the most unusual shopping venues in New York City, as well as dozens of bars and clubs. Radicals and political groups have been abundant in the East Village for several decades and even with the rising cost of rent, the region maintains its edge. The gay scene of the East Village goes right along with the individual spirit of the area.

Nowhere in the East Village of New York City is a basement style bar with a diverse crowd of patrons. Just a few steps lower than the street is this cozy little neighborhood lounge by the name of Nowhere. Here you will find a mixed-up, fun-loving crowd of gay men and women of every age group, lots of punk-type college kids, and do not forget about the Go-Go boys. Be sure to mark your calendar for the monthly Moustache Ride parties, and be ready to enjoy the cute boys, strong drinks and fabulous music. The best part of all is that Nowhere is an attitude free atmosphere.

Eastern Bloc on Sixth Street in the East Village of New York City is a great spot to find go-gos and East Village boys. You will not want to miss the Pretty Penis contest that is held there every Sunday. Eastern Bloc is the most fun I have ever had in New York City. It seems like every time I go I find myself getting hooked up with some of the hottest guys in the city. The staff is cool, the music is great, the atmosphere is great and the attitude at Eastern Bloc is awesome.

If you are interested in a fabulous gay club with an awesome jukebox, you will love the neighborhood hangout Boiler Room. This place was totally hopping back in the late 1990s. Since then the place has cooled down a little bit but the club still draws in the crowd of gay boys and girls from NYU. The music on the jukebox is always the best and the atmosphere at Boiler Room is authentic East Village. The bartenders at Boiler Room are just as great as the music on the jukebox. The crowd is a good - friendly mix of college kids, as well as those who are in their twenties or thirties. Definitely a great place if you are looking to score a date for the night. The busiest time I have seen at Boiler Room is after eleven o'clock at night up until two o'clock the next morning.

The Cock is a gay club at its best. The original version of The Cock, which was known as The Hole, was sleazy and all about the big dark room downstairs. The new location for The Cock keeps the same tradition going; it is just a little more tame this time ‘round. The Cock has become a lot cleaner than it was in the past after moving to its new Second Avenue location three years ago. The space was purposely designed to be too small for the crowd that is drawn to the bar; this causes bodies to constantly be rubbing up against one another all the time. It is like sterile sex right there on the dance floor. The music at The Cock is fabulous; the DJs play all sorts of stuff. At times, there is even a video projected over the stage. You have got to be ready for anything, because you never know what you are going to find at The Cock in New York City's East Village. The Cock is open nightly from eleven until four o'clock in the morning. Admission is usually somewhere around $5 to $10. The Cock is still the sleaziest, filthiest, downright raunchiest gay club in all of the East Village.

Another great hang out in the neighborhood of the East Village of New York City is The Urge. The Urge is a fantastic spot to chill out and converse with friends and lovers, enjoy a little people watching, listen to good music, and sit back and take in the shows that are featured there from time to time - as well as the Go-Go boys. The crowd is a mid-30s group and a good-looking bunch of people at best. The Urge offers its patrons two-for-one drinks at happy hour between the hours of four and ten. They have some fun events that you should check out, such as Desperate Housewives Sundays and Wednesday night's Money Wheel. There is no cover charge at The Urge. The friendly staff treat you as if you were family. The Urge is a relaxed atmosphere where single gay men can come together for a good time without having to deal with any attitude.

Sometimes referred to as Clinton, Hell's Kitchen is one of the more recently established gay districts. The gay scene is growing so much in popularity that the area of Hell's Kitchen in New York City has often been compared to its neighbor to the south, gay-friendly Chelsea. Being in close proximity to the theatre district as well as Broadway, Hell's Kitchen has been home to many gays out looking for their place in this world for several decades. Gays come for the low cost tenement-style housing in Hell's Kitchen. Recently, gay people have settled in for the long haul and with them they brought many gay bars, clubs and restaurants that make the present Hell's Kitchen the hottest gay playground in New York City.

One of the best gay clubs in the Hell's Kitchen district of New York City is Vlada Lounge on Fifty-First Street. The best nights to go to Vlada Lounge are Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. I just could not resist the flavor infused vodka and the tall, sexy, yet extremely friendly bartenders that were pouring them for me. The feel to this club is very comfortable, not as pretentious as some of the gay clubs I have been to in New York City. The DJ was awesome, constantly playing off of the sexy vibe of the place. I definitely plan to pay a visit to Vlada Lounge every time I have the pleasure of being in New York City. Even though Vlada Lounge is located in one of the trendiest gay areas of New York City, it is a nice club that does not go over the top with being too trendy. The club features two floors. The downstairs is a great area to cruise for dates if you are interested. The space upstairs is for schmoozing… if you know what I mean. Vlada Lounge is usually filled with a great crowd that really gets the place jumping the later on into the night it gets. Vlada Lounge features some really great drag shows from time to time, and the place can get pretty jam-packed. Some of the best moments that I have had at Vlada Lounge were spent smoking and relaxing at the tables outside.

If you are gay and in New York City, you dare not miss a chance to party at Posh, between Ninth and Tenth Avenue, in Hell's Kitchen. Posh is a gay club, but the place is so fabulous that you will be bringing your straight friends along to the party just so they will believe you when you tell them what an awesome place you have found there. The name Posh may make you think of pretentious snobs that would not know a good time if it smacked them in the face. However, the exact opposite is the reality. Everyone at Posh is just as nice as they could be. The music is great and the drinks are unforgettable. The place can get crowded in a hurry, especially if you go on a Friday night like my pals and I did, but there is still plenty of room on which you can get your groove. Posh has some of the nicest regulars you will ever come across in a gay club. The prices at Posh are quite reasonable. Each time you pay a visit to Posh you will be greeted with a variety of hot bartenders, an awesome array of DJs spinning the latest dance hits, one of the best happy hours in the city, and a fun loving late night crowd that is not afraid to get down and dirty on the dance floor. If you are in search of a laid back alternative gay scene to the go-go dancing drag queen scene, there is no doubt you will fit right in at Posh.

If you are looking for a dance club that features an entirely different crowd every night, look no further, the place you are looking for is Escuelita in the Hell's Kitchen district of New York City. Escuelita features Latino and African American dancing, as well as drag shows. Escuelita has a big dance floor, an amazing sound system and each night a different crowd is attracted to the club. Thursday nights are usually filled with African American men, Friday nights bring in a mix of both gay men and gay women, Saturday night is Latino night and brings in the young crowd of boys and Sunday is drag all the way. Drag shows are featured at Escuelita every Friday through Sunday night. I love both the shows and the atmosphere that is offered at Escuelita. Escuelita is one of the hottest Latin spots in New York City. It is one of the sexiest clubs that I have ever had the pleasure of stepping foot into, and onto their dance floor. The environment was great; it was feel good crazy without getting too rowdy. The divas are the best, Harmonica you rock!

A very pleasant club in the Hell's Kitchen district of New York City is Ninth Avenue Bistro. One time I went in the middle of the week, kind of early, and the place was pleasant and friendly. I liked the customers as well as the bartender. Although the majority of the customers were gay men of a variety of races and ages, there were a couple of gay women hanging out there as well. Ninth Avenue Bistro is a cozy little bar located on the trendy Ninth Avenue strip of Hell's Kitchen. There is a piano in the front that provides nightly live entertainment. In the back, you will find a poolroom. Ninth Avenue Bistro is a real gay gem. A great place for gay singles to relax in the afternoon, I definitely recommend you pay a visit to Ninth Avenue Bistro the first chance you get.

With the rise in acceptance among everyone all around the world, there are more and more fantastic gay clubs popping up all over the globe. There are clubs where everyone wears leather and there are clubs where every one is dressed in full drag. There are gay clubs where you slam down shots of tequila until your eyes begin to float and there are gay clubs where you can sip $3 Mojitos with your best friend or lover.

You can travel around the globe to London, Barcelona, Amsterdam and New York - or you can look up the local gay clubs close to home and in your own neck of the woods. If all you want to do is have some fun, meet some of the most respectable and intriguing gay men or gay women while indulging in a couple of drinks on your way to the dance floor as the hottest DJ place the latest and greatest in dance music, I am sure you will find that at just about any gay club you come across. I have noticed that no matter what country I am visiting, the best places to take the edge off is always the local gay clubs. It makes no difference as to whether I am ready to throw down and party off a hard week at work with my pals, or if I am in the mood to cruise the hottest gay clubs to hook up with gay singles; I find there is always a gay club close by to sooth my angst.
